After the wall, dividing East and West Berlin, came dawn the city has been swiftly re-designed in an amazing way. The city spills north and south of the Spree river, which runs through some of the magnificent parkland that comprises a third of municipal area. Berlin will enjoy you with all its sights as the Brandenburger Tor, the Alexandr platz, many nice city museums and the new parliament.  160 kilometres of mainly fossil remains mark the end of the 28-year division of East and West. Parts of the wall have been preserved near the Hauptbahnof and the Reichstag. The East Side Gallery is the largest open-air gallery in the world where the longest remaining section has been painted in bright, optimistic colors.
Brandenburger Tor once marked the impenetrable boundary between East and West Berlin. In 1989, after the dissolution of the border, the area was reopened to the public.
The Checkpoint Charlie Museum is all that remains of the famed tower that symbolised East-West tension during the Cold War. The tower itself was unceremoniously craned away a few months after the border reopened. In 2001, a replica guardhouse was returned to the site
As the GDR's interpretation of a modern city centre, Alexander Platz acts as an indelible reminder of what different tracks the two Germanys were on. Originally a bustling traffic and business centre, the area was nearly totally destroyed during the war leaving restless communist hands a blank canvas on which to express themselves.

Double rooms are available, but most rooms are multi-bedded, either 4 or 6. It is possible to have private facilities, but most rooms have shared facilities. Breakfast is served buffet-style in the berakfast area. At a 1-star hotel, not that many services can be expected. But the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, so whatever you cannot do in the hostel, such as laundry, they will be happy to inform you as to what the best nearby options are.
